A donation box was stolen from a church in Aktobe, containing around 20,000 KZT in contributions. On August 3rd at 3:00 PM, unknown individuals broke into the premises of the Holy Nikolai Cathedral on Mametova Street, damaging the donation box and making off with the funds, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing Polisia.kz.
Law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene of the crime, conducted a thorough inspection of the surroundings, and interviewed witnesses. With the aid of the surveillance systems installed within the church, the identity of the suspect was established, leading to the apprehension of a 30-year-old resident from Mugalzharsky District.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated under Article 188 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The suspect could face up to three years of imprisonment.
