Ahead of the upcoming academic year, the issue of student accommodation has become pressing.
Almaty's universities will be relocating a portion of their students to city hostels. The universities have already entered into relevant agreements, as announced by Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, on Telegram.
"In Almaty, the shortage of dormitories for university students will be addressed through private hostels. The city's universities have contracted with nearly 60 owners of mini-hotels. Entrepreneurs have readily embraced this proposal," wrote Minister Sayasat Nurbek.
In October of last year, a video spread across social media depicting homeless students in Almaty spending the night on the streets with their belongings.
