Amendments were introduced as of June 2023
Women aged 18 to 27 years have the right to apply for conscription into the military. The conscription age for both men and women in Armenia is the same. Military service for women will be carried out on a voluntary basis, with a service period of only 6 months, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
Upon completion, they will receive a one-time payment of 1 million Armenian drams (approximately 1.16 million tenge). In the case of early demobilization due to health conditions, this amount will be divided into monthly payments. Furthermore, female servicemembers will receive a certain salary during their service.
Conscripted women will be assigned to military units without any lottery or the possibility of transferring to other units. Specifically for women, a separate barracks facility will be constructed within one of the training military units. It will accommodate a female company. Based on this company, a female battalion will be formed with the prospect of establishing a women's regiment. Command positions will also be appointed from among women. Women who have completed their mandatory service will be enlisted in the reserve and can be re-conscripted if necessary.
