Adherence to specified tactical and technical requirements is the primary criterion in the selection of military equipment.
The 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle "Barys" has once again been returned to the manufacturer for rectification of shortcomings. During the testing of the equipment, a number of deficiencies were identified. The manufacturer has addressed issues with the basic chassis, but shortcomings related to the combat module remain unresolved, as stated in the official communication from the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.
Furthermore, the 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle "Barys" is incapable of overcoming water obstacles. Enhanced armor protection has negatively impacted its maneuverability, handling, speed characteristics, and overall dimensions, significantly limiting its operational capabilities. This vehicle is produced by the Kazakh enterprise "Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering."
"It is important to note that in terms of firepower, the "Barys" armored vehicle is comparable to the BTR-82A. However, its cost is significantly higher (approximately 1 billion KZT) compared to the Russian vehicle (approximately 400 million KZT)," the statement from the relevant department reads.
In addition to Kazakhstani equipment, the 8x8 armored vehicle "Arma," produced in Turkey, underwent field testing. According to specialists from the Armed Forces, this model meets the requirements of the Ground Forces based on the results of military operations.
"To enhance the firepower of wheeled armored vehicles through the use of combat modules with a 100mm gun and anti-tank guided missile systems with a firing range of up to 5 km, experimental military operation of the Turkish 8x8 wheeled armored vehicle "Arma" with the VN-11 combat module of Chinese manufacture will be conducted from July to December 2023," clarified the Ministry of Defense.
