A meeting with the participation of representatives from the country's security forces took place at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana.
Under the guidance of the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Marat Khusainov, a meeting of the Interagency Working Group on the development of the draft law "On the Territorial Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held in Astana, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The working session was attended by representatives from the Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations, the Border Guard Service of the National Security Committee, the National Guard, and other specialised agencies.

During the meeting, it was noted that the territorial defense system has been updated in strategic program documents related to ensuring the state's military security. The discussions included proposals from central government bodies regarding the draft law "On the Territorial Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan," particularly concerning state control.
To ensure the high-quality and timely adoption of these draft laws, a plan of action has been developed and approved by the interagency working group responsible for developing legislative initiatives in the field of defense.
Purpose of These Initiatives
Territorial defense entails conducting activities aimed at involving citizens to the maximum extent in ensuring the military security of the state, as well as their participation in mitigating the consequences of natural and man-made emergencies and saving lives.
The adoption of these draft laws will regulate legal relationships and define the powers and rights of state authorities and citizens in the field of territorial defense.
The interagency working group responsible for developing the draft laws "On the Territorial Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Territorial Defense" was established by order of the Minister of Defense.
