The drill was overseen by the Defense Ministers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan
The active phase of the joint tactical-special exercise "Erdik" involving units from the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took place at the training center "Edelweiss" in the town of Balykchy, Issyk-Kul Region, Kyrgyzstan, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan's press service.
"Contingents from both countries practically rehearsed joint actions of forces and means for operational deployment and execution of joint combat and special tasks in conditions of terrorist threats and the maintenance of military security in the Central Asian region," the statement from the ministry said.
The active phase of the exercise was observed by the Defense Ministers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, General Colonel Ruslan Zhaksylykov, and Lieutenant General Baktybek Bekbolotov, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, the exercise allowed for an assessment of the marching, maneuvering, and combat capabilities of the involved special units. It involved over 60 Kazakhstan military personnel and the flight crews of army aviation.
