Under the chairmanship of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held, during which systemic issues related to ensuring food security were discussed, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing the Akorda press service.

The session included discussions on various matters pertaining to the enhancement of the country's food independence. Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin delivered a report within the agenda. The heads of several relevant government agencies also presented accounts of the measures taken and those planned.

Following the discussions, the Head of State emphasized ensuring accessible and high-quality food for the population as the top priority. The significance of transparent pricing at all stages of food production and distribution, along with the fight against unproductive intermediaries, was underscored.

Considering demographic trends, it was noted that the prospects for physical food availability are closely tied to increased labor productivity, modernization of agriculture, and advancements in domestic agricultural science.

Preventing land degradation through the activation of protective measures remains a critical issue. Additionally, new approaches for systematically renewing the agricultural machinery fleet and establishing a local seed fund adapted to regional conditions are in high demand.
