During the meeting, the President, who is also the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, heard the minister's report on the results of the defense department's activities in 2023, new approaches to troop readiness, the status of the training and firing range facilities, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing Akorda.
Ruslan Zhaxylykov particularly focused on matters regarding the fulfillment of the state's defense order, the introduction of new models of aviation technology, including unmanned systems, the armament of air defense forces, upgraded armored vehicles, and communication means. He also provided updates on the department's efforts regarding conscription for military service and measures aimed at enhancing the status and remuneration of military personnel.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to bolster the capabilities of the Kazakh peacekeeping contingent for participation in UN-mandated missions.
Concluding the meeting, the President tasked the minister with several objectives related to collaboration with domestic defense enterprises, territorial defense development, enhancement of Special Operations Forces, and the strengthening of military-patriotic endeavors.
