The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population has launched a pilot project in Astana.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population has initiated a pilot project to use taxi aggregators for people with special needs, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, referring to the relevant authority.
The project aims to simplify access to inclusive taxis for people with disabilities. In the past, it was necessary to plan trips in advance by booking a day in advance via phone, and there was a shortage of vehicles. However, within this project, developers plan to utilize taxi aggregators.
The pilot project has been initially launched in Astana, and it involves engaging taxi aggregators that have obtained the necessary permits to participate. Yandex, the company behind the Yandex Go app, expressed a willingness to participate in the pilot project on a pro bono basis. Now, residents of Astana with special needs will be able to order special needs taxis through the Yandex Go App. The app now features a dedicated interface for users to communicate their specific preferences for the ride, while drivers receive instructions on how to assist passengers with boarding and accommodation.
The pilot project includes participation from cities: Astana and Almaty, and in the future, this new service will be available in all cities across Kazakhstan.
