The Kazakhstani boxer has been absent from the ring for a considerable period.
The renowned promoter Tom Loeffler has shed light on the intricacies of the future career aspirations of the celebrated Kazakhstani pugilist Gennady Golovkin, as reported by Sarbaz.kz with reference to Pro Box TV.
Loeffler observes that, at present, Gennady has taken a hiatus, during which he is spending time with his family.
"We will see what decision he makes. As far as I know, he is taking a break and spending time with his family. After so many title defenses, he has earned that right. I believe that in the near future, he will decide on his next steps, which will guide our direction."
According to Loeffler, Golovkin is actively seeking a formidable opponent.
"By relinquishing his belt, he has opened doors for many middleweight boxers. However, this doesn't negate his desire to compete. He is simply in search of a serious adversary. After the trilogy with 'Canelo,' he is pursuing the most significant challenges. Recall what he did to Ryota Murata last year – he simply knocked him out," noted Tom Loeffler in an interview with Pro Box TV.
In the autumn of 2022, Golovkin engaged in his third bout against Mexican fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. After three rounds, the judges awarded the victory to the Mexican. Since then, the 41-year-old pugilist has not returned to the ring.
