The World Sambo Championship for masters took place in Uralsk.
Approximately 600 sambo masters from 18 countries participated in the sports sambo championship for individuals aged 35 and older, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The champion of the event was Colonel Arman Abeuov, the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan and the Head of the Central Sports Club. He secured the gold medal in the over 98 kg weight category. It is worth noting that just a month ago, Colonel Arman Abeuov participated in the Kazakhstan Judo Championship for masters, where he claimed victory in the over 100 kg weight category. As the reigning champion noted at the time, it was a qualifying event for the World Championship scheduled to take place in early November in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi.
Another representative of the Armed Forces, Senior Lieutenant Talgat Amrenov, who serves as the Head of the Garrison Sports Complex in Military Unit 27943 RgK "Vostok," achieved the "gold" in the over 98 kg weight category. Sergeant Dias Kurukbaev from Military Unit 63310, part of the same Regional Command, secured the "silver" in the 71 kg weight category.
General Colonel Ruslan Zhaxylykov, the Minister of Defense, congratulated the military sambo athletes. While awarding the athletes, the head of the ministry wished them even greater success in their sports careers and military service.
"Sport will always remain one of the important means of achieving success in military service for a serviceman," said the minister. "Sambo, a popular sport in the armed forces, cultivates combative qualities in military personnel."
