On July 4th , Elena Rybakina, Kazakhstan's top-ranked tennis player and the reigning «Wimbledon» champion, will open the second day of competition, according to a correspondent from Sarbaz.kz.

The tournament has started on the 3rd of July, and it is customary for the defending champions in the singles categories to play on the Centre Court during the first two days. Thus, the men's event was opened by the winner of «Wimbledon» 2022, Novak Djokovic, and the second day will be opened by Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who sensationally claimed the champion title in 2022. July 4th also marks the day when the second Kazakhstani tennis player, Yulia Putintseva, will enter the competition.

In the first round, Elena Rybakina will face an American, Shelby Rogers. The match is scheduled for 18:00 Astana time. Yulia Putintseva is expected to take the court at approximately 22:30 Astana time, with her opponent being Beatriz Maya-Haddad.

The opening day of «Wimbledon», the 3rd of July, has seen the victory of Kazakhstan's top male tennis player, Alexander Bublik, against an American, Mackenzie McDonald in three sets.

At 24 years old, Elena Rybakina is the reigning «Wimbledon» champion, but she risks losing her third position in the WTA rankings. She was considered a favorite at the French Open ("Roland Garros"), but had to withdraw from the tournament due to a virus. Later, Elena decided not to participate in another event- the WTA 500 tournament in Eastbourne.
