During the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deployed new armored personnel carriers called "Eitan," mass production of which began in 2020, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing idf.il. An official image of the armored personnel carrier was also published by the IDF's press service.

The first "Eitan" armored personnel carriers were delivered to the Israeli army in late 2021, despite production commencing in 2020. The manufacturing of these carriers was originally intended to take place on the same production lines as those used for the "Merkava" tanks and "Namer" armored personnel carriers at the IDF's maintenance and repair center. However, it is currently unknown where the serial production of "Eitan" armored personnel carriers is taking place.

Development of the new armored personnel carrier began in 2014. The "Eitan" is designed to transport 13 individuals (3 crew members and ten troops), equipped with the "Hetz Dorban" active protection system and an unmanned turret armed with a 30mm caliber cannon.

Developers highlight that the entire artillery arsenal of the turret has the capability to fire at high angles, allowing for the engagement of targets on upper floors of buildings.
