The news was unveiled during an aviation show in Dubai.
To enhance the security of Indian aircraft, Al Tariq Company announced the completion of initial trials for integrating their long-range Precision Guided Munitions (LR-PGM) onto the HAL Tejas, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing the company's statement. The announcement was made at the aviation show in Dubai.
A memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed earlier this year between Al Tariq and Denel. The collaboration's goal was to integrate guided munitions onto the Indian Tejas aircraft.
These aircraft represent India's fourth-generation multirole fighters designed with a tailless configuration and a triangular wing.
The maiden flight of this aircraft took place on January 4, 2021. Limited series production for the Indian Air Force commenced in 2007. Currently, developmental work is underway for carrier-based and training variants of this aircraft.
The LR-PGM guided munitions family is developed based on the Mark 80 series of high-speed munitions of Indian origin. Weighing between 310-360 kg, these munitions can adjust speed and impact angle. The integration of this guided weaponry into Tejas aircraft is projected for the third quarter of 2024.
