Dauren Abayev has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia

The decree appointing Abayev has been signed by the Head of State.

The former Minister of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dauren Abayev, has been appointed as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, according to the correspondent of Sarbaz.kz portal. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In March 2023, Abayev became the Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He has also served as a minister twice. From 2022 to 2023, he headed the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and from 2016 to 2019, he served as the Minister of Information and Social Development.

From 2020 to 2022, he served as the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Abayev has replaced Yermek Kosherbayev as the Ambassador, who was appointed as the Akim (mayor) of the East Kazakhstan Region at the end of June 2023.
