Incoming ethnic Kazakhs have settled in various regions across the Republic.

As of July 1, 2023, a total of 10,488 ethnic Kazakhs have returned to their historical homeland and been granted “Kandas” status. Since 1991, a cumulative number of 1,117,600 ethnic Kazakhs have been repatriated to Kazakhstan, according to Sarbaz.kz, citing the press service of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
More than half of the Kandas recipients (56%), who arrived in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, originated from Uzbekistan, 19.3% from the People's Republic of China, 9.7% from Russia, 7.8% from Mongolia, 4.6% from Turkmenistan, and 2.6% from other countries.
The Ministry of Labour's information indicates that the resettlement of “Kandas” (“blood mate”) recipients is designated for the following regions: Akmola, Abai, Kostanay, Pavlodar, East Kazakhstan, and North Kazakhstan regions.
Upon resettlement to these regions, the Kandas recipients are provided with the following state support measures: relocation subsidies – a one-time payment equivalent to 70 times the Monthly Calculation Index (241,500 tenge) per head of household and each family member; for rental housing and utility payments – a monthly assistance ranging from 15 to 30 times the Monthly Calculation Index (51,700 to 103,500 tenge) for a period of one year.
