Kazakhstan Plans to Reinstate the Basic State Pension for Servicemen

Kazakhstan is considering the reinstatement of the basic pension for servicemen, according to Sarbaz.kz, citing the official website of the country's Ministry of Defense.

The return of the basic pension will be considered under the following algorithm: a special supplement to pension payments for years of service is proposed for retired personnel. This supplement will be calculated similarly to the size of the basic pension and will depend on the total length of service and years of service.

Meanwhile, the basic pension payment for all pensioners in the armed forces will be abolished concurrently. For newly assigned pensions, it is proposed to calculate pension payments for years of service at a rate of 60-75% of the monetary allowance. Currently, this rate stands at 50-65%. Thus, considering the upcoming transition to a unified wage system, the imbalance in pension amounts will be eliminated.

The state's basic pension payment for servicemen was abolished on January 1, 2016.
