The Chief of the Technical Support Department of the Ground Forces Command, Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Bekeov, explained in an interview on the ministry's YouTube channel that the primary equipment of tank units is the T-72 tank model, which undergoes regular modernization, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.

"I would like to clarify that the T-72 is not an old tank. It has a significant modernization potential. Each year, modernization and relevant types of repairs are carried out based on this tank at defense industry enterprises. We also have support units, including fuel trucks, mobile kitchens, technical support vehicles, tank repair workshops, and recovery equipment," explained Yuri Bekeov.

The T-72 is the main battle tank and one of the most widely known tanks globally. It was adopted for service after successful military trials in 1973 under the designation T-72 and was named "Ural." Production of the T-72 continued until 1990.

On September 15th, Kazakhstan celebrated Tanker's Day. This date became significant in 1942 when a column of tanks, built with funds raised by the youth of the republic, was sent from Kazakhstan to the front lines. In 1941, at the initiative of young workers of the Chimkent Railway, finances were collected throughout the republic for a year to create a tank column. On September 15, 1942, 46 tanks with the inscription "Komsomolets Kazakhstan" were handed over to the military. These combat vehicles participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War, and according to some eyewitnesses, several tanks were involved in combat near Berlin.
