A military camp will be built in Bulgaria to accommodate a multinational NATO combat group, with a cost exceeding 100 million Bulgarian Lev (over €50 million), as announced by Defense Minister Todor Tagarev during a parliamentary defense committee meeting, reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing TASS.

Defense Minister Todor Tagarev added that the final decision on the location of the military camp has not yet been made, and some of the funds required for its construction will be provided by NATO.

"The construction of the necessary infrastructure, including barracks, equipment storage buildings, and road network preparation for the multinational NATO combat group, will cost us more than 100 million Bulgarian Lev. Ultimately, a small town should be established. The base is expected to be ready by 2025," the minister stated.

Bulgaria has been a NATO member since 2004, having joined the alliance during a period of extensive expansion when seven states simultaneously entered NATO. The country hosts four U.S. military bases, including two airbases. At any given time, these bases can accommodate up to 2,500 American military personnel.
