Karaganda is now entirely without electricity. The city's traffic lights are not functioning, and there are communication problems, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.

"A technical disruption occurred at the TEC-3 power plant in the form of protective measures being activated, resulting in the shutdown of the open 220 kV distribution device. The causes and circumstances are being investigated," commented Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, the Akim of the Karaganda Region.

The previous day, Karaganda experienced flooding after prolonged heavy rainfall. The sewage system struggled to cope with the water flow. Videos circulated on social media showing buses, cars, and people struggling to move along the flooded streets of the city. City authorities reported that 38.6 mm of precipitation fell in just over an hour, exceeding the monthly average of 21 mm.
