Houthi rebels, participating in the civil war in Yemen, have declared war on Israel, as reported by Sarbaz.kz with reference to CNN.

On Tuesday, they launched rockets and drones towards the city of Eilat in Israel. Israel's air defense system successfully intercepted the missiles.

"The armed forces of Yemen will continue to carry out rocket and drone attacks until Israeli aggression ceases," stated in a declaration by the Houthi military unit, which was broadcast on Al-Mazira TV.

Due to Yemen's geographical remoteness from Israel, this does not pose a threat to Tel Aviv. Nevertheless, it signifies another mobilisation of Muslims against Israel, potentially representing a long-term threat.

It's worth recalling that in 2004, the Houthi rebels initiated an anti-government uprising against the Sunni-dominated central government. The uprising was triggered by the military actions in Iraq and the support from the US-backed Yemeni government. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthi clan, was killed by Yemeni security forces. Subsequently, his brothers assumed leadership of the movement. The Houthis are supported by Iran as they belong to a branch of Shia Islam. Houthi slogans include anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism.

Previously, Sarbaz.kz reported that the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia have been placed on high alert.
