An international UN-certified course titled "Comprehensive Civilian Population Protection" is being conducted at the Center for Peacekeeping Operations of the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan (KAZCENT), as reported by Sarbaz.kz.
Course participants include military personnel from the armed forces of Iran, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, France, the Czech Republic, Japan, and law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan.
The two-week course covers the concept and role of UN mission elements, the rights and responsibilities of peacekeepers in protecting the civilian population.
"All materials have been developed and approved by the Joint Training Service of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations," noted Major Arman Tastanbekov, the course coordinator. "These courses are essential for those planning to participate in UN missions with a mandate for civilian population protection."
The classes are conducted by KAZCENT instructors in collaboration with representatives from the UN Office in Kazakhstan. The teaching methodology involves organizing group discussions and making extensive use of presentations and video materials.
A successful completion of the course will aid peacekeepers in effectively carrying out tasks related to the protection of the civilian population, thus fostering trust between the civilian population and UN missions.
Upon course completion, participants will receive UN certificates.
