Army Athletes Secure 8 Medals at the XXXVI World Wrestling Championship in Baku

Over 300 athletes from 18 countries took part in the event.

The XXXVI World Wrestling Championship took place in Baku and saw army athletes achieve spectacular results as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing the Ministry of Defense's press service.

Organised by the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the championship saw more than 300 athletes from 18 countries in attendance.

In the Greco-Roman style, army wrestler Amangali Bekbulatov in the 55-kilogram category triumphed over competitors from Iran, Russia, and Turkey. In the decisive bout, he defeated Azerbaijan's wrestler Farid Sadıkli, securing victory as the world champion among military personnel.

In the freestyle wrestling competitions, Rustem Mirzagaliyev (79 kg), Aynur Ashimova (57 kg), and Irina Kuznetsova (62 kg) claimed the second position on the podium. Kazakhstani wrestlers Nursultan Azov (125 kg), Meirzhan Ashirov (70 kg), Adil Ospanov (65 kg), and Daulet Temirzhanov (57 kg) earned bronze medals.

Notably, the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan were represented by nineteen wrestlers in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling events.
