Death of a Child in a Social Institution in Karaganda Region

Six others remain in intensive care.

Six children from a center providing special social services in the Karaganda region have been admitted to intensive care, according to the Ministry of Health, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.

On July 30, two children felt unwell, experiencing vomiting and diarrhea. The following day, ten more children with similar symptoms were hospitalized. Despite all efforts, one child could not be saved.

Currently, six children are in intensive care under close observation by medical professionals.

The Governor of the Karaganda region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, visited the hospital to inspect the affected children and held a meeting with the management of the healthcare department and attending physicians. A special commission has been formed to investigate the cause of the incident.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with this incident and transferred to the Office of Special Prosecutors of the Karaganda region. The Governor emphasised that all responsible parties involved in this tragedy will be identified and held accountable according to the law.

In light of the incident, the acting director of the institution was immediately suspended from their position.
