Kazakhstan-Manufactured Drone Showcased at Defense Exhibition in Turkey

During the exhibition, a series of agreements were signed between domestic and foreign enterprises to facilitate joint scientific and technical collaboration.

The 16th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF-2023), one of the key events in the global defense industry, took place at the TÜYAP Exhibition Center in Istanbul. The Kazakhstani company "National Company Kazakhstan Engineering" (NK Kazakhstan Engineering) presented products from its factories at IDEF, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing the company's press service.

Among the products showcased at the exhibition was the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) "SHAGALA-M," produced by R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP. According to the official website of Kazakhstan Engineering, this UAV is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target designation.

The "SHAGALA-M" can be operated day and night, throughout the year, under various climatic and geographical conditions. It also has the capability to function as a relay for communication and control equipment. With the appropriate modifications, this UAV can be utilised by civil agencies in various sectors of the country's economic activities, as stated on the company's website.

As announced on the official account of R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP, the participation in the exhibition resulted in the signing of an agreement between the National Company Kazakhstan Engineering, R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering, and the Serbian state defense company Yugoimport SDPR for the export of Kazakhstani products.

Additionally, R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP signed a memorandum with the Turkish defense technology company Meteksan Savunma Sanayii A.Ş. for joint scientific and technical collaboration in the field of radio-electronic systems, communication systems for unmanned ground, aerial, and surface vehicles. Successful negotiations also led to the signing of a memorandum on joint scientific and technical cooperation in the field of unmanned systems and fuel elements with one of the leading companies in the Turkish defense industry, Lentatek Uzay Havacılık ve Teknoloji A. Ş.

It is worth noting that several other Kazakhstani enterprises also presented their products at the exhibition in Turkey, including Steel Manufacturing LLP, JSC "Plant named after S.M. Kirov," JSC "Semey Engineering," JSC "Ural Plant Zenith," JSC "Machine-Building Plant named after S.M. Kirov," Kazakhstan Aviation Industry LLP, and Kazakhstan Aselsan Engineering LLP.
