The development of AI is anticipated to assist journalists in generating headline options and exploring diverse writing styles, thereby "enhancing their work efficiency and productivity," according to Google.
Company representatives have clarified that these tools are not intended to supplant the crucial role journalists play in curating reports, fact-checking, and creating their articles.
Google is already in discussions with news organizations regarding the potential use of these tools to support journalists. Negotiations have taken place with publishers such as The Washington Post, News Corp, which owns the Wall Street Journal, and even The New York Times, as reported by SCMP.
It is worth noting that artificial intelligence has already replaced the role of news anchors. In certain media outlets, robots "work" as news presenters, delivering news with lifelike expressions and intonation. For instance, in a major Chinese agency, Xinhua, a robot hosts a news program. In Kazakhstan, a robotic news anchor named "I-Sanj" reports on world news for one of the television channels.
