The US Army has selected Lockheed Martin to develop and deliver four 300 kW laser weapon systems, as reported by Sarbaz.kz, citing zona-militar.com.
Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will supply two prototypes of the 300 kW IFPC-HEL system, with the option to install two additional modules. Additionally, a mobile platform-based laser weapon system has been developed for the US military's air defense needs. This system is designed to protect military assets and units from enemy fire, providing 360-degree coverage to safeguard troops and semi-enclosed spaces from projectiles.
IFPC-HEL will be integrated into the US Army's air and missile defense command and control system.
