In total, the Bundeswehr ordered 104 Leopard 2A7V tanks. The first vehicle was handed over to the German Army's Ground Forces on October 29, 2019. This indicates that the tank manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has been able to produce approximately 26 Leopard 2A7V tanks per year, according to Defence24, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.

It's essential to note that the Leopard 2A7V tanks are not entirely new machines. Only the hulls of these tanks are built from scratch due to structural changes and the high wear and tear of the hulls of older versions of the Leopard 2 tank.

However, the turrets are created through the refurbishment of turrets from older versions. For this purpose, 68 turrets from Leopard 2A4 tanks, 16 from Leopard 2A6 tanks, and 20 from Leopard 2A7 tanks were used. Currently, there are a total of 295 Leopard 2 tanks in the arsenal.

At present, KMW (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann) is working on the Leopard 2A8 variant, which will be equipped with the Trophy HV active protection system.
