Chinese officials have revealed additional details about their planned manned lunar mission, through which China aims to become the second country to conquer the Moon, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing Xinhua.

At an aerospace summit in the city of Wuhan, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), Zhang Hailong, presented the preliminary mission plan. The mission is expected to take place by 2030 and will be part of the project to establish a lunar research station.

During their stay on the Moon, astronauts will collect samples and conduct scientific research. It has not been disclosed how many astronauts China plans to send to the Moon.

Recall that in 2013, China successfully landed a lunar rover on the Moon, becoming the third country to achieve this feat.

China is also constructing its own space station, "Tiangong". It is planned that this station will replace the ISS, which is set to cease operations in 2030.
