Poland has announced the procurement of Spike anti-tank missiles, as reported by Sarbaz.kz with reference to Defense News.

The Ministry of Defence of Poland has entered into an agreement with the Israeli company Rafael for the supply of long-range missile variants. The contract value is estimated at around $100 million.

It has been disclosed that the Polish army will procure Spike missiles through Rafael's partner, Mesko, a Polish company that will handle the production and assembly of the missiles within Poland.

"Mesko and Rafael have been collaborating in the Polish market since 2003, allowing for the sale of fully 'Polish' missiles, provided to the Polish user. Reliable local manufacturing capabilities have produced over 3,000 Spike missiles, entirely made in Poland," stated Rafael in a press release.

The Spike family of anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) was developed by the Israeli defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. These are disposable, highly accurate missiles employing electro-optical and fiber-optic technologies. The Spike family includes the short-range Spike-SR missile with a range of 50 m to 2 km, the miniature tactical loitering weapon Spike FireFly with a range of 500 m to 1.5 km, the medium-range Spike-MR (Gill) with a range of 2.5 km, and the fifth-generation long-range Spike-LR2 with a range of 5.5 km, as well as the extended-range Spike-ER2 with a range of 10 to 16 km.
