Azerbaijan is considering the possibility of granting amnesty to Armenian military personnel from Karabakh who have laid down their arms. This statement was made by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan for Foreign Policy Issues, as reported by Sarbaz.kz with reference to Reuters.

"Even in the case of former military personnel and combatants, if they can be classified as such, we are considering the possibility of amnesty or referring to amnesty," stated Hajiyev.

According to the advisor, Baku will allow members of the armed formations from Karabakh who have disarmed to leave.

"At the moment, we see that some individual groups and officers have made public statements that they will not accept our conditions and will continue to resist," he added.

Earlier, Sarbaz.kz reported on the start of a military operation in Karabakh. The Ministry of Defense stated that these were "anti-terrorism measures of a local nature" aimed at restoring the constitutional order. Yerevan referred to the events as aggression and stated that there were no Armenian units in the region. After a day, Baku and Stepanakert agreed to a ceasefire in Karabakh, which included conditions such as the disarmament of Armenian formations and the withdrawal of heavy equipment.
