Monsoon Flooding in Pakistan Results in the Death of over 100 people

Over 100 people have lost their lives, and 180 others have been injured due to monsoon rains and resulting floods in Pakistan.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan, during the monsoon season that began on June 25th and is ongoing, 101 people have been reported dead, with an additional 180 injured, as reported by Sarbaz.kz.

The heavy rains and floods have caused extensive damage to tens of houses and inflicted significant losses to agricultural lands. The capital of Lahore province and the city of Rawalpindi have been severely affected, experiencing over 200 mm of rainfall in the past few days. The floodwaters have submerged many residential areas, disrupted transportation, and caused power outages. In Rawalpindi, the floods led to the collapse of an under-construction bridge, resulting in the death of 12 workers.

In addition to this, at least 47 people have lost their lives due to rains, landslides, and lightning strikes in the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Reports of casualties have also emerged from rural areas in the western Baluchistan province and the southeastern Sindh province, where heavy rains have persisted for several weeks
