The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will meet with the President of the United States today, December 12, as reported by Sarbaz.kz citing NYT.

He also plans to meet with Republican senators who refused to allocate new funds to Ukraine amid warnings that aid will run out in a few weeks.

The leader of the Democratic majority, Chuck Schumer, and the Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, have also invited Zelensky to address a meeting of all senators. It's worth noting that earlier, he was supposed to speak at a closed briefing, which was abandoned by Republicans.

"Biden and Zelensky will discuss Ukraine's urgent needs and the importance of continuous support from the United States at this critical moment," said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a statement.

Earlier, Sarbaz.kz reported that Republican senators last week blocked the allocation of $106 billion in emergency aid (primarily to Ukraine and Israel).

The situation with funding underscores signs that Western support for Ukraine is waning as Kyiv's counteroffensive failed, and Russian armed forces went on the offensive. Ukraine's offensive used Western weapons worth billions of dollars, but the front line has barely shifted in over a year.
